Our Appropriate Use Policy (AUP) is designed to help protect our customers and the Internet community from irresponsible or illegal activities. If you are dissatisfied with the Service or with any terms, conditions, rules, policies, guidelines or practices of Inter.net Canda Limited ("Inter.net"), in operating the Service, your only remedy is to discontinue your account using the procedure stipulated in Inter.net's Service Agreement. Please keep in mind that these policies are subject to change at any time without prior notice and in no way do they replace the Service Agreement.

Primer

This document provides a general understanding of Inter.net's policy on the Appropriate Use of Inter.net's services. Common sense and judgment are a necessary part of any system of rules, and the AUP is no exception.

Protection of our customers and our resources, the ability to provide quality service to our customers, conformance with existing law, and the protection of our reputation as a service provider are all contributing factors to decisions on AUP violations.

It is our intention to allow Inter.net customers access to the Internet with minimal or no interference. Inter.net believes in free speech, however, certain activities are considered inappropriate by the Internet community at large and cannot be permitted under the guise of free speech. Inter.net does not monitor the activity of accounts except for measurements of system utilization and billing records. Nevertheless, in our efforts to promote good citizenship within the Internet community, if we become aware of inappropriate use of Inter.net service, we will respond accordingly.

Inter.net reserves the right to terminate service with or without notice should an Inter.net account be used to violate the AUP. Flagrant violations of the AUP will result in immediate termination of service. If Inter.net terminates your account for any reason described in our AUP, you agree to not register, either directly or through another person, another account with Inter.net without obtaining Inter.net's prior written permission.

  2. Email
  3. News
  4. Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

I. General Violations

Account Sharing:
All of Inter.net's plans are for individual and single simultaneous use only. You agree not to share the password of the account with anyone else.

Impersonation/Forgery:
Adding, removing, or modifying identifying network header information ("spoofing") in an effort to deceive or mislead is prohibited. Attempting to impersonate any person by using forged headers or other identifying information is especially frowned upon.

Network/System unfriendly activity:
Any activities which adversely affect the ability of other people or systems to use Inter.net services or the Internet is prohibited. These activities include, without limitation: "denial of service" (DoS); attacks against another network host or individual user; attempts to obtain unauthorized access, such as attempts to circumvent user authentication or security of any host; network or account ("cracking"); accessing data not intended for the customer; logging into a server or account that the customer is not expressly authorized to access; probing the security of other networks.

Privacy violations:
Attempts, whether successful or otherwise, to gain access to any computer system or customer's data without consent, are prohibited. Inter.net users agree not to use any process, program, or tool via Inter.net Services for guessing the passwords of customers on Inter.net or other systems.

Threats:
Threats of bodily harm or destruction of property are always prohibited.

Inappropriate Content:
Inter.net will not tolerate inappropriate content from its users.

Child pornography and Hate content are examples of inappropriate content and are expressly forbidden on our service. Inter.net maintains zero-tolerance on this issue and service to any user displaying this type of offending material will be terminated immediately.

Spam:
A popular term used to describe the mass posting of substantially similar messages to one or many Usenet newsgroups. The term is also applicable to similar behavior in email. Posting multiple messages to individual newsgroups or posting to a large number of newsgroups with a single message is equally prohibited. Intentionally or maliciously flooding a newsgroup with the intent to disrupt the use of that group by other participants is strictly prohibited.

II. Email

Email that has been left on our server may be deleted if it surpasses 10MB and has been left on the server for more than 5 consecutive days, if it has not been read and been left on the server for over 3 months, or if it has been read and left on the server for one month. This will not affect you as long as your email software is configured appropriately.

You may not, and you agree not to, use your Inter.net account to send out: large quantities of unsolicited email of whatever nature - commercial, personal or otherwise - also known as "spamming" or "mail bombing"; messages that are threatening, harassing, coercive or otherwise abusive in nature; email messages to another individual or another system that has explicitly requested that you cease. Nor are you permitted to distribute, solicit or forward chain letters, pyramid schemes, multilevel marketing schemes or other similar types of activities (either through email, your Web site, postings, Usenet news, on IRC or any other similar mechanism).

You may not, and you agree not to, use your Inter.net account, email or Web site address to: collect responses from unsolicited commercial email; impersonate another user or otherwise falsify your username in email or Usenet postings with the intention to defraud, misrepresent or avoid recriminations arising from activities not permitted in virtue of this AUP or other such policies. All the above is prohibited, as is any additional activity Inter.net may, from time to time, inform a subscriber as prohibited.

III. News

Please use your judgment when posting to any newsgroup. Many groups have FAQs, guidelines and standards, which describe what is acceptable to them. Spam and off-topic articles originating from Inter.net diminish the usefulness of this resource for everyone.

Do not cross-post a single article to more than 5 groups. Inter.net may cancel such articles.

You may not forge or remove header information. This includes attempts, whether successful or unsuccessful, to circumvent the approval process for posting to moderated groups and issuing news control messages. Inter.net may cancel such articles.

You shall not cancel messages other than your own. You may, however, cancel posts forged in your name.

Flames, hostile attacks, or invectives aimed at a group or an individual poster, are generally considered inappropriate. Flames in the non-service groups are not encouraged. We believe that it is better to ignore flames than respond to them.

Threatening or harassing news articles are prohibited.

IV. Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

Many chat programs have Appropriate Use Policies, it is your sole responsibility to be aware of these policies and follow them.

To view ICQ's AUP please go to http://www.icq.com/legal-usepolicy.html.

The use of IRC bots and the act of "flooding" are prohibited, as is the violation of any accepted policies on IRC servers. Inter.net will respond promptly to complaints of violations of the above rules and will take appropriate action when necessary. Please refer to the AUP of the IRC server you are using.

Bots are defined as multiple clients (e.g. IRC programs) running simultaneously and connected to the same server. Flooding is defined as quick and repetitive actions or messages aimed at a user with the intention of disrupting or disconnecting such user. Neither Bots nor flooding is accepted on the majority of IRC Servers.
